All you artistic people, listen up. On Friday, 1st October an enrolment evening will be held at the Centro de Artes in Mijas Pueblo starting at 19:30. Painting, drawing, ceramics, tile painting and even languages are just some of the large variety of classes on offer, so there’s sure to be something for every creative soul.

The extremely popular centre was established in 1972 by foreign residents with the aim to develop creative arts in local and foreign communities and has since become an important part of Mijas life. The Centro de Artes is self-financing and non-profit making, run mainly by volunteers.

Costa Singles is the birth of a new and unique meeting place for all singles on the Costa del Sol. Costa Singles starts off with an amazing opportunity to journey through the heart of the Sahara. The “Crossing the Sahara 2010″ is a week long expedition to the bowels of the Sahara desert in Morocco, taking participants to a unique site, surrounded by breath taking, natural beauty.

The expedition starts in Marrakesh and goes into the deep desert of Morroco. The desert is a wonderful place to share the experiences of reflecting on a million star sky, touring a sea of dunes or living with natives of the area. On Sunday the trip will begin early in the morning and will cross the Atlas Mountains at the Tizi’n Tihcka. On the way to Tinerhir, where you will spend the night you will visit the Todra gulch. On Monday morning the trip continues in the direction of Alnif, a miraculous journey through an authentic desert. It passes through Maharch and arrives at a lovely small hotel in Ouzina, where you will remain till Friday. Several short trip possibilities in the surroundings will be offered during these days and are already included. Good news for all naturists, as Mijas opens its first official nudist beach in El Chaparral.

This 500 metre stretch of sand is located at km 204 of the A-7 motorway and situated on Marina Beach near the Calaburras lighthouse. It is one of the least frequented parts of the Mijas coastline and access is only available to pedestrians.

Public or social nudity is nothing new to the world – it was common in ancient Egyptian times. Greek athletes participated in the Olympic Games unclothed. By the 1840’s beaches in the United Kingdom were used for nude sunbathing, and the practice became even more popular in the 1950’s along the French coastline. Nude beaches have since spread around the world. Though they are still few and far between. They are often referred to as free beaches, clothing optional beaches, and naturist beaches.

The beach in Mijas was officially opened last weekend and despite being classified as a “nudist beach” it is open to all bathers.

When it comes to talking about the Costa del Sol, you’d be forgiven for thinking that tourists only choose to visit in the Summer, as it’s name suggests, the “Coast of the Sun” is famous for its scorching hot weather and chilled out beach bars, or “chiringuitos”. However, this is far from the case – and we will see shortly, in times like these the best plan of action is to promote year round tourism for the country.

The objective for the Head of Tourism in Andalucia, Luciano Alonso is to maintain the province’s position as the most popular destination for visitors from the rest of Spain, and indeed the rest of the world. He has chosen the Wine Museum in Malaga to present the plan to promote tourism in Andalucia for the coming autumn/winter season.
