Paper-readers are being warned to be on alert for some job advertisements that are appearing in local newspapers promising a monthly income. The seemingly benign job offer actually turns out to be cashing travellers cheques in Spain.

Some women in various parts of Southern Spain who have answered the ads and applied for positions now think they have become victims of a possible scam. And as a result of this, they are now believed to be involved in police investigations.

One such woman – a British expatriate – has been allegedly held and questioned by the Guardia Civil in Almeria. She is alleged to have responded by email to the job ad and was consequently offered commission for encashing travellers cheques at a Spanish bank. The bank in question contacted the authorities to check whether the cheques were authentic, believing them to be highly suspect.

Police have refused to comment on the incidences, however these and other reports have been confimed by usually reliable sources.

Say what you will about Spanish mentality, when it comes to R&R and work/rest balance they know what they’re talking about. Take this upcoming “puente” for example. For those not in the know, a “puente” – literal translation “bridge” – is an extra days holiday.

Case in point, Monday 6^th of December is the Día de La Constitución Española and also the 8^th is La Inmaculada Concepción. Therefore, what most Spanish have come accustomed to doing is taking one extra days holiday in between these two “festivos” (public holidays) – therefore effectively “bridging” the gap and walking away with 3 days holiday, for the price of one! With the Christmas season already in full swing, what better way to enjoy the festivities than this?

A Charity Christmas Market will be held in La Cala de Mijas, starting on the 4^th December and continuing for two more days from noon til 8pm every day.

There will be something for everyone, with Christmas goodies and handmade items on sale on stalls set up especially in the boulevard.

Additionally, there will be various performances by international choirs, the Tapas choir and Dutch choir, as well as dance shows by groups such as Stagecoach and FAMA academy.

For the kiddies, there will also be a very special visit by Father Christmas who will give out chocolate and sweets.

Everybody knows that you can see very unique and expensive cars in Marbella and Puerto Banus. Now the exclusive car dealership C. de Salamanca has sold one of the most expensive cars ever to be sold in Spain. The Aston Martin One-77 is the most expensive model from the legendary British car maker and has a hefty price tag of 1.8 million Euro. The buyer of this exclusive car is not known and the dealership has not named it, but they described him as a successful foreign businessman, middle aged, and a car fan, obviously. They said it took him five month to decide on the purchase, but at the end he paid a 400,000 Euro deposit to get the car. He personally went to the factory in Warwickshire to request the personalisation’s of the vehicle which will come in a blue silver. Aston Martin are to make only 77 cars of the Aston Martin One-77 which boasts an 7.3 litre V12 engine with 760 horsepower. The car will be delivered in March next year, when we need to watch out for another exclusive car in this area. Marbella still has its exclusivity.
