A clinic in Mijas has come to an agreement with the local hall to offer to unemployed residents of the town through a project named Solidental.

For POLICLINICA ALEN the aim is to offer services which are not readily available on the public health system. Unemployed residents only have to show their unemployment card at any of the ALEN clinic branches and will be allowed to benefit from a 50 per cent on all basic procedures until March 15. All basic care procedures including cleaning, fillings and extractions are covered by this service. Read more »

A typical UK ex pat takes a trip to go and do his weekly food shopping with his partner. After stocking up on local produce, they decide to finish their shopping experience with some good old UK products. They have to make several trips to different supermarkets to find what they want, and when they finally do, they choose several products and… then happen to look at the prices.

They end up only choosing one or two particular products, deciding to leave the rest behind. Unfortunately, either their budget just can’t quite handle the cost this month or they are just appalled at the prices.

All style and no substance (La Moraga)

La Moraga Chef Dani GarciaI had promised myself I would check out , as I have heard nothing but good things about these luxurious and stylish restaurants. When I ventured to the quite recently installed establishment (June 2010) on the top floor of El near the copper tower in Marbella, I have to say – I was less than impressed.

Firstly, the staff took ages to take our order – despite the fact that the barely had four customers – (my friend and myself included.) We were just about ready to walk out when a surly waiter came over to attend to us.

Secondly, when I ordered an Iberian pork kebab and my friend ordered a warm cod and tomato “bocadillo” (sandwich) we were not informed that my choice would take significantly longer to cook and thus it was that my friend was almost three-quarters of the way through her chosen meal, eating very slowly (all will be revealed in a minute) before I attracted the attention of the waiter to complain. I was met with a half-hearted shrug as he informed me that my meal was taking longer to cook. Read more »
