British Weekend Festival in FuengirolaHere’s cause for a little celebration during these hard times. The Parque Miramar Shopping Centre in is holding a British Festival Weekend today and tomorrow (24th and 25th of September) from 4pm.

On the agenda for Friday kicks off with a “Fawlty Towers” screening at 4 -7pm (brilliantly funny English t.v show!) A “spot of afternoon tea” will be served meanwhile from 4.30pm until 7pm all completely free and then afterwards there will be an International Welsh singer, Laura Elen singing from 8.30pm until 8.45pm.

On Saturday, the screening will continue in the same way, this time with “Black Adder” – (another of my personal favourite British television shows!) which will be shown from 4 -7pm. There will be free face and t-shirt offered around the same time. Afterwards there will be a “Stagecoach” performance, when children from the famous theatre school will perform some Brit classics. A folk music session is on the agenda from 7-8pm, with a free cider and food tasting from 8.30-9pm. Read more »

A local artist in Estepona will be showing his latest exhibition entitled “Is everything relative?” Sr. Ireneo Ruiz is a surrealist painter and will be holding the exhibition at 12pm Tuesdays and Sundays at the Cafe oriente, C/Manuel Navarro Mollor until the 30th September. All paintings on show will be for sale.

The exhibition “Eleazars Tour”- consisting of paintings from the artist “Eleazar” will take place at the Casa Fuerte Bezmiliana in Rincón de la Victoria and will continue until the 22nd . Boney M in concert in FuengirolaEverybody knows the group Boney M., a disco group created by German record producer Frank Farian which achieved popularity during the disco era of the late 1970s. The four original members of the group’s official line-up were Jamaicans Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett, Maizie Williams from Montserrat and Bobby Farrell from Aruba. Most famous songs from Boney M. are probably Daddy Cool and Ma Baker which climbed the charts in the 1970s in the UK as well as Germany.

Boney M. with its Orignal Lead Singer Liz Mitchell will perform on Saturday 25th September in Castillo Sohail in . This is the first time ever that they perform in the . Ticket prices start at 30 Euro for standing and go up to 70 Euro for premium .

“Centro de Artes” enrolment evening in October

"Centro de Artes" enrolment evening in OctoberAll you artistic people, listen up. On Friday, 1st an enrolment evening will be held at the Centro de in Mijas Pueblo starting at 19:30. , drawing, ceramics, tile and even languages are just some of the large variety of classes on offer, so there’s sure to be something for every creative soul.

The extremely popular centre was established in 1972 by foreign residents with the aim to develop creative arts in local and foreign communities and has since become an important part of Mijas life. The Centro de Artes is self-financing and non-profit making, run mainly by volunteers.

The Costa del Sol, however, is always going to be popular for and migrants seeking to set up home there, due to its warm all-year-round climate, multitude of courses, fantastic beaches and amazing countryside.

In fact, the Spanish government estimates that more than one million foreigners will buy a property at the Spanish coast, or move there, within the next six years. By the year 2025, this figure is expected to treble. It’s fair to assume many of them will be moving to the Costa del Sol and so ensure a continuing demand for property.

The Costa del Sol is still considered a prime investment area, due to its popularity as a tourist destination. Prices remain relatively high here compared to most other parts of Spain, but due to continuing demand there is huge potential for long term growth.
