Marbella will have the first McLaren dealer in Spain

On 15th of december McLaren Group from Woking, Surrey, England will have their first showroom in Spain, namely in Marbella. At the presentation of their latest model, the MP4-12C in Madrid it was said that McLaren wanted to open a showroom in Madrid and a technical service in Marbella, but at the end they decided the other way around and will now open the first Spanish showroom in Marbella. Grupo Guarneri will use their existing installations in San Pedro de Alcántara to open an official showroom for McLaren. They have over 40 years of experience in top end cars. The newest model is the McLaren MP4-12C, a sports car designed and manufactured by McLaren Automotive. It is the first production car wholly designed and built by McLaren since the McLaren F1. The MP4-12C features a carbon fibre composite chassis, and is powered by a mid-mounted McLaren M838T 3.8-litre V8, twin-turbo engine developing approximately 592 bhp (441 kW; 600 PS) and around 443 lb·ft (601 N·m) of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a 7-speed Seamless Shift dual-clutch gearbox. The first devilvery of this car to clients will we on the same day of opening the new showroom.

If you’re living in or visiting Marbella and the surrounding areas and you need a car (or bike) rental, or even want to buy a bike, then consider your search well and truly finished.

Founded in 1998, “Rainbow Rentals” is conveniently located in the centre of Marbella, just a stones throw away from the promenade on Avda. Severo Ochoa quite near Clinica Europa and almost opposite the Hotel Fuerte Miramar Spa. The owner, José Antonio has 13 years experience in the trade, surviving through word of mouth and his service is second to none. To give you a better idea of the location, if you walk or drive a bit further, you soon join on to the main street of Marbella, “Ricardo Soriano” where all the shops, restaurants and banks are located.

My partner and I recently bought a motor scooter from “Rainbow Rentals” and we have nothing but good things to share about our experience. After shopping around many different stores, we finally decided to buy from José because his customer service is truly wonderful, and also his shop has the added convenience of being able to sort out everything “under one roof”. We bought, registered and insured the bike in the same office, and did not have to go to various different locations to sort out all the paperwork – as José does it all – which made the buying process infinitely smoother. And if you’ve been in Spain long enough, you should know that any “paperwork-related” process is generally a nightmare.

So, we’ve got location – now let me tell you about the prices. The most economical car you can rent from José will cost you just 19.90€ per day (for a minimum week’s rental).

To take another example, you can rent a Fiat Panda for 3 days and it would cost you a mere 78 euros. When you compare that to leading car rental company, Europcar, who have the same car and number of days priced at 150 euros, it’s plainly impossible to go wrong.

These prices are the most economical in the area, second only to the airport – whose prices can simply not be matched. But who wants to go all the way to the airport to rent a car when they are staying in Marbella? That’s exactly the point, and the essence of what makes José’s business simply work.

One thing I must mention is that José speaks very little English, but I have just one thing to say about that… if my partner was able to buy from him with his “pigeon” Spanish (at best), then anyone can!

Marbella car dealer sells Aston Martin One-77

Everybody knows that you can see very unique and expensive cars in Marbella and Puerto Banus. Now the exclusive car dealership C. de Salamanca has sold one of the most expensive cars ever to be sold in Spain. The Aston Martin One-77 is the most expensive model from the legendary British car maker and has a hefty price tag of 1.8 million Euro. The buyer of this exclusive car is not known and the dealership has not named it, but they described him as a successful foreign businessman, middle aged, and a car fan, obviously. They said it took him five month to decide on the purchase, but at the end he paid a 400,000 Euro deposit to get the car. He personally went to the factory in Warwickshire to request the personalisation’s of the vehicle which will come in a blue silver. Aston Martin are to make only 77 cars of the Aston Martin One-77 which boasts an 7.3 litre V12 engine with 760 horsepower. The car will be delivered in March next year, when we need to watch out for another exclusive car in this area. Marbella still has its exclusivity.

Fanciful Ferrari’s

Appearances can be deceiving. How much would you say the below car is worth?

Hmm, I don’t know. ‘Round about the €270.000 mark? No? Hmmm. How about €200,000?

Okay… and what about this one?

Er… the same?

Would you believe me if I told you it’s actually one tenth of the price ?

So – where’s the rub?

Well, actually … the last picture isn’t a Ferrari. But it sure looks like one… and you can get them in Mallorca.

In 1995, a Mallorcan mechanic and his brother discovered the idea of kit-cars and replicas entirely by accident – “We were familiar with using fibre glass on boats and decided to test our luck in making hobby cars” says the mechanic, Francisco Aguilar. However, it wasn’t until 1998 that they started to value the idea of producing that type of vehicle. It was at this time, after three years of investigation and development that they produced their first ever replica – as a hobby!

They acquired the body of an original 355 Ferrari, which they later moulded with fibre glass and adapted to a base car. Francisco Aguilar and his brother said the results were so good, that they started to sell the first replicas to foreigners immediately – even though they had no initial intention to do so.

Their company SRC Kit-Cars was founded in 2005 and was primarily a “made-to-measure” car company, where clients would request that their “dream vehicle” be made. However, the brothers soon realised that the real money was to be found in making replicas of luxury brands. And the rest, as they say is history…

At SRC Kit-Cars the handmade replicas of luxury sports cars take between three and six months to complete. They take the chassis from a basic model of car – a 150 horsepower Toyota – then substitute the body, modify the suspension, change the wheels and exhaust, tune the engine… and the finished product looks more or less exactly the same as a genuine luxury sports car.

The brothers have already perfected their technique in their workshop in Palma de Mallorca, and have made at least a dozen models inspired by the most coveted sports cars on the planet. At the moment the list of orders pending is enough to keep the company going for another four years.

Bugatti Veyron sold in Marbella

One of the fastet, most exclusive end expensive cars was just sold again in Marbella. The Bugatti Veyron is with its 8.0 L quad-turbocharged W16 engine and its 1,001 PS the quickest accelerating and decelerating street-legal production car in the world. The price of the Bugatti Veyron is €1,100,000 without taxes and the production is limited to only 300 cars. So it is more than just exclusive. This particular car was sold in Marbella in Bergé Automoción which is selling exclusive cars like Lamborghini, Rolls Royce or Lexus. This car comes in red and black and I am sure it will be nice to see it again on the Costa del Sol passing by with a speed of 400 Km/h.

Ascari A10 – one of the worlds fastest cars

The Ascari A10 is a car produced by the British company Ascari Cars. It is a road-going evolution of the KZ1-R GT race car currently contesting the Spanish GT Championship, with both cars penned by ex-Formula One designer Paul Brown. The A10 features a 5.0 L BMW V8 engine producing 600 bhp/447 kW. The A10 shares the same basic carbon fibre chassis as the KZ1, with all-new bodywork and racing-derived suspension. Despite the addition of an FIA-spec roll cage and the fire-suppression system, the removal of soundproofing and such luxuries as air conditioning and a stereo system contributes to the A10′s relatively light weight of 1,280 kg. Ascari claims that the A10 is capable of a top speed of 354 km/h and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 2.8 seconds. The company plans to hand-assemble 50 A10s at its Banbury, England assembly plant, at a price of approximately 450,000 Euro (£350,000) each. One of this 50 cars was in Puerto Banus last week.

Lamborghini Murcielago

If you are living in this area, you can always see nice cars, for example this Lamborghinio Murcielago, which I saw next to the Kempinski Hotel in Estepona/Marbella. The name Murciélago (spanish: bat) comes from a bull that survived 24 sword strokes in a bullfight in 1879 at the arena of Córdoba, and fought with such passion and spirit that the matador chose to spare its life, a rare honor. The bull was later presented as a gift to Don Antonio Miura, a noted breeder, and went on to sire a line of famous fighting bulls. The Murciélago has the legendary Lamborghini V12 6.2 L engine, a six-speed manual or six-speed sequential automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive. It also has a rear spoiler that can be raised to an angle of 70 degrees, side mirrors that fold in to improve aerodynamics, and side scoops that automatically open to the needed size to let in just the right amount of air needed to cool its engine. The Murcielago can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and to a top speed of 330 km/h.
